Canadian Group buy, Extended warranty

I normally never bother with extended warranties, because they rarely pay back what they cost. I am seriously considering buying an extended warranty due to the potential long term issues that may arise.

So my question is, I though I would offer to negotiate a group buy on extended warranties, if any others would like to work together. I know we could find a dealer in Alberta(no sales tax) who would discount the warranties for a group. If we could get at least 5-10 trucks involved we will certainly find a better price for the group.

My truck is only due in mid April, so I would start the negotiations once received.

If anyone is interested, let me know.

Keep in mind, here in the US the Chrysler Maximum care service contract does not cover any emissions components after the factory warranty runs out! Those items are the big ticket items that can/will give you problems! Quiz your salesman and see if he comes up with something different, if he does, get it in writing.

Just something to keep in mind!!!

To answer your questions. I will start the process once I receive my truck which will be mid April. Once I have a general consensus as to numbers I will respond to all. I do not think it makes any difference where the dealer that sells the warranty is as coverage is across Canada. Alberta seems to be the best region as their is no Provincial Sales tax so that alone could save 10%.

I would pursue the Chrysler factory warranty which is 7years/ 160K km's

I would guess that if we are 10 buyers we could get an excellent deal as there is little cost to the dealer just paper work.

Once we try then we will know what we can expect as far as prices go.

Here is the PDF of the plans available. I though the 410 plan would be best but I could see if we can have options regarding choice if others wanted different plans

Would love to see pricing on the 418 and 410 packages.

I passed on extended warranty because thy very seldom pay for themselves. But reading about the problems some others are having, I'm thinking it could be a good idea this time.

Chrysler diesel emissions warranty is conflicting. If memory serves, one section says warranty is 3 years on components but then another section says catalytic components are covered for something like 7 years. That leaves it open to argument and interpretation if your SCR and DPF are catalytic components. It would be interesting to see this play out in arbitration.

Interested for sure and would like to make sure it covers any emissions components after the factory warranty runs out.

Apparently cost on 5yr gold is around $1300 and the gold plus cost me $2650 as it includes more and oil changes every 6mos or 10,000 km
