Look into a underbody battery mounting enclosure. There is not much room to relocate anything for a second battery under the hood. I helped install some many years ago on a Dodge CTD plow truck, added two of them with 4 gauge wire.
Unless you plan on running a lot of heavy electrical equipment is there a real benefit here? Seems like a lot of weight to add for not much benefit. It's one thing to have a large diesel without glow plugs that you need to crank a lot in the cold to get going. this thing is a small diesel and the stock battery is pretty darn beefy.
It's for winch, air compressor and rev related electrical loads... Looked underneath, removing the muffler would give room for an under carriage battery box.
I believe many winch and inverters are recommended to be set up with dual battery due to the draw they need.
My last truck before my ecoD was a 2011 Chevy 1500 with the 5.3. I sold it to a family member and he asked me to look at some stuff for him this weekend as I do work on it for him and he was at the house... it was amazing how much room is under the hood of that truck compared to our ecoD's!!!!!!!!!!!
