UPDATE 12/31/14 New motor shipped yesterday UPS freight. Install is set for Monday. If you turn the screws hard you can make it happen fast. I'm flying home to Florida on Friday and my truck is being shipped back to me after the install of the new engine .. More update on Friday when they have the motor out. I love the service I'm getting from this dealer...

Sounds like a fantastic news

Too bad that all dealers are not equal like this dealer

Dodge should be very attentive to fix any issues with the eco-diesel as this one is going to be leading the light truck market for a while now

Mark, please post the name of the dealer - others might find it useful to know of a helpful dealer. ;)

Glad to hear they are getting it done.

Why is the emblem on the front fender unlike my Ecodiesel emblem? Just curious....

You guys are awful.

Just because someone's first and only posts have been about a catastrophic engine failure, you should not jump to conclusions.

Just because he joined 3 days ago, has no history with the forum, and provides ambiguous evidence, does not mean he is trolling...

You really should not go there.

I don't think that anyone jumped to conclusions, or made any accusations, but merely asked why the emblem looked different. We may have been fishing, but in a polite manner. You are the only one who mentioned the word troll. :(

That said, I would like to know where to get an emblem like that.

because he swapped out the ugly ram ecodiesel badge for the jeep ecodiesel badge.
And I really like his led lightbar on the front bumper, id like to know how it was mounted.

Hi guys.. You have a few questions for me to answer. First I was asked to join this forum form one of you guys here. I was posting on Ramforumz. This is a much better site. Next. I disliked the factory badges and brought aftermarket ones. The rear says 3.0L & Turbo Diesel, Side says Turbo Diesel. I need to put some new paint in the badge. The light bar is just mounted to the tag top 2 tag holes with small rubber grommets and 2 inch angle. All my bulbs or upgraded to LEDs plus I have the DRLs turned on. As for the damage on the motor still not 100% sure.I have been told but could not find it there is a hole on the block. I will be at the dealer in the morning so I might get to see it out before I fly home to Florida. I have asked the service manger to take photos of the whole event over the next few days. A few photos of the mess on the under side of my truck..

Thanks, don't worry or let people get under your skin on here, it's much better if you just let it go, I believe you, I'm not stupid. I saw your oil from your first pics, used diesel oil is unmistakeable. People on this site are very interesting, they get really offended if anyone posts any problems of an eco diesel. I'm sorry for your problem, I'll be 100% out of all warranties in 4 months and I don't know what I'll do if I have a $21,000 engine replacement.
I really do like your rebadge and your front led bar, I have been holding off on my bar for the same problem. I as well am running 100% led front lights.

This is a post from me in August.
DRLs on my 2014 ECO Diesel are working. Wednesday was my 10,000 miles service. I asked the service guy please can the tech look into turning my DRLs on. I explained I had seen people on the forums had it done and told him I had some screen shots of the software install. He told me if it could be done he would be happy the charge me $59 as he will already be in the software doing an update for the recalls. I left the dealership and was going to await his call when it was ready. About 30 minutes went by and my phone rang the service rep said I have some good news I have the sales code for the DRLs from the parts department and we will be able to install the DRLs. Fantastic!!
Went back after lunch to pick the truck up and the service rep had some bad news for me. We just can't do it. They had tried many different ways to get the code in the software but with no luck... This is what the tech wrote on the ticket. "Added DRL sales code to the options -attempted to add DRLs No good. Changed Country to Canada and attempted again NO GOOD---- Unable to program DRLs in this Vehicle Customer Advised"

So I left the dealership thinking this was the end of trying to get the DRLs to work.... Until I was in car riders line picking up my son from school that afternoon when I saw a reflection of my head lights in the rear bumper of the car in front... Looked at the switch, lights off and auto was off to.. Drove home jumped out the truck to check, NO LIGHTS ON.. Even when it was running and in gear with the E brake on NO LIGHTS.. Until last night I got the wife to check one more time. In gear NO E brake YES they work.. The light is from the low beam not the turn signals and is about 75% power of normal head light. I checked the back lights and yes they are not on. So it can be done. But the dealer thinks it can't..

DRL info from another thread:

DRLs have a SALES CODE, if your dealership will connect up the StarScan machine, they should be able to add the sales code & activate the DRLs

LMK Daytime Running Headlamps, High Beam
LM1 Daytime Running Headlamps, Low Beam
LM5 Daytime Running Headlamps, Dedicated

I chose Dedicated which are the parking lights.

I live in Florida. My dealer, Firkins in Bradenton, has been very cooperative. ven repaired a dented hood caused by "the unknown". It's nice to know who is nice.

Tell us when you are ready. Thanks for all the information so far.

Found the little hole in the block.. Its about 6 x 4. Con rod is well in frame on one of the photos.. I don't think we will ever get to the bottom of this. The warranty guy drove me to the airport and said they never get to here the out come.. I dont think its coolant in the oil.. Oil is still in good shape. I think it was the main bearing seizing to he crank that made all the noise. Not a belt
.. What ever it was we will just have to wait for a recall if they think we need one.

I may be a real moron here, but i have two questions. First, what the heck is drl? Im assuming a light, but whats its purpose?

Second, i see the giant crack, where exactly are we looking? Driver side passenger side? Oil pan? Side of block?

Sorry in advance for dumb questions!!
Where he says "con rod," that means "connecting rod." Also referred to as rods sometimes. It is the part that connects the piston to the crankshaft to generate torque and get you motivating down the road.

No such things as dumb questions.. DRL stands for daytime running lamps. When my ram is on and in gear, the front turn signals (LED's) are on....

Some areas (IE Ontario) require DRLS to be sold on vehicles built and sold since 1991.
