I also thought I'd share my experience in the hopes of helping anyone who's not clear. I bought my CTS2 about a month ago, and unfortunately, wasn't aware it wouldn't be able to update with a mac (which is all I own). I got the e-mail regarding the updated PID's. I assumed I had a version of the software with some of them already loaded, because tire size and distance since last regen were already available (although distance since last regen has never worked).
I took it to my cousins house who owns a PC, downloaded Fusion drivers and made an account, and followed the instructions to install the most recent update on the CTS2.
The first thing I noticed was my second screen, accelerometer, now had color inside the pitch and roll gauges. I scrolled through the PID's and decided on DPF status instead of distance since last regen on my primary screen, Master. I then looked at the tire size, and noticed it didn't ask me for both the stock and aftermarket sizes. It only asked for one. So I assumed it wanted the actual tires I had on. Once I entered it, the CTS2 walked me through a process of turning the truck through ignition stages. From what I understand, it now communicates information back to the ECM rather than just receiving it, and actually updated the speedometer on the vehicle rather than needing to look at MPH-corrected.
I then noticed the mobile regen feature. Previously, I had an alert set for soot mass % at 65, EGT3 at 1100, and EGT4 at 1000, 2 second tone only on soot mass. Prior to doing the update I had it setup so once it beeped I knew it was trying to do a regen, once all were flashing red I knew it was in the process.
Now, I can just see the DPF is on or off. Either way, it still had to be at 65% before to attempt a regen prior to the update. My soot % was at 25% when I turned on mobile regen after the update. Following the on screen instructions, I turned the truck off, turned on the mobile regen, and turned the truck back on. Sure enough a minute later, both EGT3 and EGT4 were flashing, DPF status was On, and it completed a regen without having to buildup to 65%.
Also, it added a layout screen (which I think is the best part). One option now has auxiliary rocker switch looking icons, which will activate an auxiliary power source with an accessory cable.
