Thanks for talking about the 4th plate , I read a few threads about EGR delete ,
and I have seen posts about the 316L stainless plate / 12 gauge , to make our own plates ,
but this is the first time I read that there must be a 4th plate when leaving the cooler in place .... I have tried copy/paste a few photos
of where the 3 plates of the stage 2 delete actually are installed , I would not know where to put the 4th plate..
..
I will have a look at the step by step installation PDF file , by Sasquatch , and figure it out .
It is just for knowledge , so far my EGR Cooler is fine , and I don't have the GDE tune installed ...
..
If I am not mistaken , in YOUR set-up , you just slide your plates to interfere with flow of coolant and exhaust ,
2 plates go at locations same as in this picture , plate# 3 goes behind the turbo ,
and plate #4 would be mounted ..........?...?
somewhere in picture 2 or picture 3 ....

Oh Boy those are different locations , some plate in the stage 2 kit are not there ,
simply because they are on the same tube , but at the other end of the tube .
..
your 2 and 4 are in usual seen before places ,
your #1 , that is the turbo ???? ,
and #3 down on the cooler ???
picture of the engine is a bit different than our engines isn't it ??

OK , so the people who do the " bypass" on the coolant , ones who remove EGR cooler ,
instead of " plugs / plates " just link between # 3 to # 2 with a hose . ( putting a " T " at location # 2 )
..
then #1 and # 4 plates , take care of the exhaust gases .
..
Am I getting it right ??

exact , the GDE hot tune , is EGR delete ready ... UNLESS your tune is old , there is a date where the tune was not EGR delete compatible yet , I would call GDE and ask
if your tuned Module has the good date in it , if you don't have the tune yet , the ones they send out are all EGR Delete ready ,

if I am not mistaken , for the total delete , like DPF and SCR you would need the OFF ROAD tune

I don't look up to the day I will have to remove the EGR cooler ,
just getting to it without the ability to "hover in the air " over the engine ,
needing to set-up some kind of pirate ship plank , to install over the engine , this thing is high .

Received my tuned ECM back from GDE today. Installed it tonight, ran the start up procedures and away I went. No coolant leaks from performing the EGR cooler delete, no CELs just one big smile on my face. Love GDE, Love Sasquatch. First time the truck has been started in 3 weeks since finding out I had the cooler leak. Now it runs effortlessly. Changed the oil so that I don't have that soot laden oil in my engine from pre EGR removal. Thank you to all contributors on this forum for their wisdom, knowledge and guidance. I coudn't have diagnosed and performed the repair without you all.
..
Gotta love this Internet " Forums system " , anything you want to know , about anything ,
there is someone out there willing to share the knowledge , your truck , your Moto , your washing machine , " anything ".

,,,,,,,,,, So cutting the corner of the mounting bracket off to get the cooler removed doesnt matter. This truck is staying this way till death do us part.

FYI even with the cooler laying on the garage floor with me trying to now remove the T40 bolt wouldnt break it loose. Heat would be the only solution but being careful to aim the torch away from the plastic manifold and other areas that could be affected.
..
So , your saying , there is no need to mess with that T40 bolt , just cut the part of the mounting bracket ,
where the EGR cooler is bolted to that bracket and remove that bugger with it attached by the T40 ??????????
if it's true = awesome shortcut .

Thanks Ecosparky , so not a short cut , but a good alternative to losing our minds when not being able to turn that T40 bolt .
..
my plan is simple ..... I don't have a EGR leak right now , I'm not saying IF , I'm saying WHEN it starts to leak , IF it is still on warranty ,
the dealer will do it , and then even if it was good for a while , I would remove the newly replaced EGR cooler, and sell that brand new unit
to someone who needs one and wants to save a little $$$$ .
If the EGR cooler is not covered anymore , and Mr. T40 is causing me problems , Thanks to you , I'll know I can cut the mounting bracket
and remove EGR cooler , saving me from insanity , I too have that handle to hold an hacksaw blade , you can be sure I would use a brand new blade in a location like that.

Ohh Boy ! Ecosparky , I feel that the Congradulation Paper I posted was not good enough .....
your last post reflects an even more commendable effort . sure has me thinking about building me one of those
engine creepers with old parts around the garage , while waiting for the EGR to fail , and if I finish my home-made creeper first
I might not wait for the failure to attack this .
I just might add a shelf for my CPAP , since you mentioned it .

Kazimodo : LOL......let me know when you attempt this. Could be coerced into a road trip for Montreal smoked meet, french strippers and a few craft beers. Hell, throw in a Habs/Leafs matchup and I'll stay for the weekend.
Haven't you had enough abuse from this EGR removing SAGA ??
sure If I remove mine before it leaks , it would be outside , my garage door is too small to fit the truck .
so more of a summer time job , the Habs / Leafs game in Montréal would have to be a late playoff game ....
NOT this year , April 7th last Habs/Leafs game in TO ==> habs going to golf courses.
..
Are you turning your old EGR cooler into a trophy ??? a piece of wood , and a couple of bolts should do it .;)

Free2fly , GDE already answered this , when someone asked about removing soot Inside the intake after installing their tune ,
they recommended against going Inside the intake and cleaning the soot in there , for a complete erasing of the soot accumulation during stock tune usage ,
it would not be enough , they talked about having the complete engine
taken apart if you want to remove all the previously accumulated soot , just let the tune keep the vanes open Inside the intake ,.
.................................................................................
found thread but this is what GDE answered : in post # 47
,,, http://www.ram1500diesel.com/forum/ram-1500-diesel-maintenance/8417-intake-cleaning-3.html

"" cleaning SOOT inside the intake ..don't do it.
--------------------------------------------------

I asked GDE about cleaning intake after tuning at 45000 miles
They said to get any benefit, would need to tear down the motor,
not just remove/clean the intake.
Also no additives other than anti-jell.
... Chemical cleaning of the intake runs the soot into the combustion chamber , and then a bigger problem than before. ""

GDE are experts , so I'll take their advice. ""

Thanks guys, guess I missed those post. If there was a thank you button I would click it twice for ya!
..
there sort-of is a thank you button , it is the " Like" button , you can click on , it is at lower right of all posts ,
some members actually have more likes , than number of posts , total is Under your Avatar
in example , I have +/- = 1/3 likes compared to number of posts .. the complete opposite of that , is the possibility to " ignore "
every posts a member writes , when they write something , you can't see it because you chose to have them added to your ignore list
practical for very negative people who always bring you down or get you mad.

I didn't know it was not available when coming on here with your mobile , Thanks ...
There you go , you are now at 75% of your post count in likes ...;)
..
now Thursday morning , Free2fly at 150% of your post count in likes .... good start , and welcome to the forum.

Eco sparky , you never came back on the subject of the vacuum hose going to actuator , ..
and the big harness plug , you talked about in post # 79
could you share how you dealt with those in the end ??

No need to be sorry , it's just that i made myself a nice little file , sort of a step-by-step on EGR cooler removal , using stage 2 kit .
in case I should ever need to do this , I called the file " Ecosparky EGR cooler delete " . it was missing that info ,
I left an empty line after you inquired on the subjects , now I copy/pasted this post right there .
.
Thanks for all your info , and suffering .....;)

Mullet , to save your sanity , the final result so far is to give up on the T40 bolt , use a metal saw blade , that you can put on a handle ,
unless you can get in there with the sawsall , and be ABSOLUTELY sure you are not going to slip , and cut or damage other stuff ,
and cud the bracket that the EGR cooler is bolted to , Brokendownbutgood stated that bracket can be purchased /replaceable , if you ever want or need to reinstall the EGR cooler ,
I don't know the price of the bracket , but how much is it Worth to you to fight for hours with those bolts .
.
now you are saying you have problems with 3 bolts , that is new , so far I only read about 1 bolt , the T40 .

Kazimodo since you have put together a list of steps and potential problems and how they where resolved how about a concise how to here for stage 2 removal?

I myself am not looking to do a full delete but sure some of our other members would really appreciate it.
So far , i have copy/pasted , ( into a Word Pad file ) , every interesting thing I read about the EGR cooler removal ,
(( or just isolation from the system , with EGR cooler left in place )) , it is 24 paragraphs , one after the other , not necessarely in order ,
would need to tidy it up a little , remove my comments in French , add references from other member , to give them credit , add links to thread page .
I have to leave this morning , so it is not ready , if you want the rough word pad file , I can post it sooner.

The one picture you posted on page 9 helped me out a lot. Thank you for posting that.
..
the page 9 for me starts at post # 161 , I guess the number of posts in each page dépends on the device used to view
this internet site , I have no idea what picture you are talking about , big thanks to whoever posted that picture I guess :),

So here is an update with 5 days of driving the truck with full delete.

Installed the Flo-Pro exhaust on Tuesday.

The GDE Tune is very nice, getting on the freeway, passing and climbing hills this thing now has the grunt of a diesel down low. On top of that I am now getting 25mpg around town. .
..
ramelzer , you never came back to the question by 97hmcs , in post # 27 ,
in post #25 you mentioned you were going with "" GDE hot tune "" , then said FULL DELETE ,
but if you removed the DPF and SCR , , didn't you need the GDE OFF Road tune ??
