Hello,
I am new to the forum although I have owned my 2015 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel for 8 months. I searched high and low for this truck for its versatility as a daily driver combined with its towing ability. I drive 50-60k miles a year and need the efficiency this truck provides. Everything has been great up until now.
I now have the coolant vanishing issue that seems to be common with this engine. No exhaust fumes in the coolant, no coolant in the oil, no externally visible leaks. I go through a little over a gallon a week in this truck now. I have over 75k miles on the truck and it is out of warranty for the EGR cooler, not that it matters as it looks like they are backordered for over a month and the cost is $1300 plus another $1000 for labor.
With the cost of the EGR cooler and the cost of the labor to have it installed I am thinking of going with a delete. This way I will not have this problem again. While I am at it since I have to get the ECM tuned to handle the delete I was thinking of going full delete across the board DPF, CAT, and DEF. Going with a straight pipe.
I have read many reviews and installs of the DPF, CAT, and DEF deletes. But I have not found anyone talking about the EGR Deletes. Has anyone on here done one? And are you happy with it? has there been any issues?
Any guidance in this matter will be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Robert
