Goodyear Ultraterrain vs BFG KO2 or???

So now that I'm settling into my new Ecodiesel I'm looking into upgrades. I'm going to go with the Bilstein 5100 levelling struts and want to upgrade from the current 275/60r20 tires to an LT275/65r20.

I was originally going to go with the BFG KO2s due to them only being 57lbs and being the tried and true AT tire at around $300 per tire. I was also considering the Cooper at3 xlt and Falken wildpeak at3w but both are practically the same price for a heavier tire that hasn't been in the game for as long.

Then came the conundrum... Goodyear ultra terrain. It's a Discount tire exclusive has a nice looking hybrid AT/MT tread similar to the Falkens. Comes in at 58lbs and around $250 a tire.

Does anyone have experience with these yet? Looks like a nice tire that would would for the snow and Forest roads I get into here in Colorado. I can't find hardly any reviews just yet.

I know tires are all about personal opinion but I'd appreciate the input from you all. My main concern a out tire weight is trying to keep as good of MPG as I can while going bigger.

I have been running Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 or 3 (don't think they make the 2 any more) on two of my vehicles for quite a while. Mileage is good. They are pretty quite and they work very well off road as well as snow and ice. The Revo 3 LT275/65R20 is 51 pounds and is about $300 through Tire Rack, but you might find a better price locally.

Im a big fan of goodyear duratracs and there endurance trailer tires but thats it for me. Those ultra terrains are very similar to the tires that were exclusive to walmart for years. If you want an inexpensive tire with a good track record thats not american made look at there pathfinder at tires they are actually a decent tire and very affordable.

Never ran them on a pickup, but I have had really good service from the Goodyear Viva (goodyear tire exclusive to Walmart) tires on 2 cars and a crossover suv. Ive bought 4 or 5 sets of them and the only complaint ive ever had is they don't stop nails... but then again what tire does.

My choice is the Falken Wildpeak A/T3.
I got 4 ea, 285v70-17 E (10 ply) out the Califunny taxed door for $866.00 at Discount.
Discount matched the best price I could find on the web.

I am on my 2nd set of KO2’s. The first set went 65000 miles and replaced them at 4/32 because I was worried about rock cutting one of them(I hate flat tires) I have 40000 miles on my current set and they are at about 8/32.

I loose about 2mpg at first when they were first installed but as they wear a bit the MiPG improves. I have never had a flat with these, they are tough tires. They see some pretty rough roads.

Duratrec’s are good tires but from my experience they don’t wear as well as the KO2’s.

I haven’t had any experience with the others.

According to my contact at Discount Tire the Goodyear Ultraterrain tires were created as a direct competitor to the KO2 tires. They DO have the snowflake symbol. Testing in comparison on a tire testing facility showed they both work equally well in snow and ice, the Ultraterrain tires were quieter and had noticeably better wet traction, and they have 3/32 more tread depth.
