Collin , using Walmart Canada , it says out of stock ,
no matter the location used in search engine , same result .....
Exactly... not available on line. I've even checked every Walmart store between Calgary and Barrie as my wife is currently driving across Canada and I'd get her to pick me up some big jugs. She knows I like big jugs. lol

The stores that show "almost gone"... are gone. I've called them.

Amazon.ca has the 1 qt for $41 each. I'll pass on that.

If you have a Cummins shop near by ask them, all Cummins shops are valvoline dealers.
Will do. Tried Auto Parts stores near work today. All are Valvoline dealers....all said....Not in stock and cannot order. Something is up with this stuff. You guys that can find it better stock up.

I was finally able to get two 5L jugs from NAPA. Ordered them to a store in Toronto and will pick them up tomorrow. Not that readily available here. $18 a jug at Walmart USA and I paid $50 Cdn. Time to move.

Yes I cant wait for spring. Although my wife just arrived home tonight driving from Calgary, Alberta to Oro-Medonte Ontario. She did 3350 kms on mostly dry roads. Maybe 15 minutes of light snow over 4 days which is pretty amazing for winter driving on the TransCanada Highway.

So I've got my trans pan/filter ordered, but i'm seeing a lot of chatter, but nothing definitive, on alternatives to the Mopar ZF trans fluid. I see some people using Valv Max Life, but others (on other forums) saying don't use. Amsoil? Redline? Also seeing a generic ZF fluid on amazon. What the skinny?

Thanks
This comes up alot these days.. especially with dodge/chrysler as all of there 8 speed transmissions are marketed as "fill for life". There is a pretty good video on this subject that very detailed (a little long) showing how the manufacturer of the transmission does recommend a change but dodge doesn't.. it also talks about fluids and shows specs

hey BrianF,
Where do you buy PetroCan Duradrive? Looks like they sell online but only if you have a corporate account? Do they carry specialty oils at gas stations?

So hard to find specialty fluids here in Canada. Do you know where to get the transfer case fluid or equivalent BW-44?

Just did my first trans service at 135K. I used Valvoline. Here is the spec sheet from Valvoline. PI Sheets (valvoline.com) They list ZF Lifeguard 8 as one of the applications for Valvoline Multi-Vehicle MaxLife ATF. I used the ATP B-453 pan.

I did have an issue after the refill with a stutter when starting out cold. I determined that it was low fluid level. I'm not sure whether the cooler thermostat was open during the drain, it had then closed while replacing the pan and thus didn't refill the cooler. Or whether the problem was that I did the service on a two-post lift, which seemed to leave the trans in a downward angle toward the tailshaft. At any rate, I put the truck on a slight downward incline in the front which allowed me to add a quart and half. This seemed to solve the problem.

Did the pan you used come with 4 magnets?

For bounty hunter... my drain plug on the factory pan wouldn’t come out for anything either.
Ya it's my belief it's just molded into the plastic for appearance purposes. The plastic is too soft for a socket to turn.
