Hey guys, Im looking to get some new tires, because of the noise of the ones I have now is too loud. I have a 3" rough country bolt on kit. Right now the truck has 20x12 dropstar wheels and 33x12.50x20 ironman m/ts. Many years ago I had toyo open country m/ts on a cummins that I was really pleased with, but looking at other options. Looking for something aggressive yet long lasting and quiet. I have also had a set of bfg a/t ko2s on a tacoma that weren't too bad. I would like to go up to a 35" tire but not sure if they will fit. I may also go back to the stock 20s and sell the dropstars, just can't decide. Any and all help/opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My experience with bfgs KO2s has been good. Fairly quite and nice look. Unfortunately tread life is not great. Best experience I’ve had is with Nittos Terra Grappler G2. Super quiet. In fact quieter than all season road tires. And tread life is decent. Think their rated for 65k. Unfortunately they aren’t very aggressive looking. But at least don’t look like a road tire.

No such thing in my world lol. Some tires last better than others but traction makes noise. I drive 30-40% gravel so tires of softer compound get eaten up fast. Big open lugs chuck rocks which destroy everyone's windshield here and the underside of your pickup as well. 30,000- 40,000 km is life expectancy of tires for me regardless of brand. 8 ply minimum and 10 ply favored for gravel use. Takes away your ride but punctures from sharp stones drop off dramatically with higher ply tires. I hate oversize tires as noise is only one part of the equation. Lifts and big tires ruin handling on public roads. I guess if you live in the dirt and mud it warrants owning them. Some are all show and no go. Like the city cowboy wearing the hat and the boots but never seen a horse lol. To each is own. Lots of cheaper off brand tires like Rovello I am currently running on 20's. 8 ply and so far so good. A lot cheaper by far and can put 2 sets for the price of fancy branded tires. No flats in 15,000 km which means something here.

If you're close to Utah I have some Cooper XLT's I'm trying to sell now.

The smoothest aggressive tires I've used are my 37" patagonias. Very quiet and smooth. I have about 30k miles on them and look like I should be able to get another 20-30k left.

I've had the Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrains, they were nice and quiet, but chunked when towing, I'm sure do to how soft they are.

I really liked My Nitto Ridge Grapplers, but they were hard and much louder than the other tires I've had. But, they were the best off road.

I am really happy with my Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts have them in a 315/70r17 and they are smooth and quiet. Maybe not the most aggressive tire out there but I am confident they’ll get me through any situation I get the truck into. Plus imo I think they are one of the best looking tires out there at the moment.
