Removing Active Grill Shutter AGS without the plastic casing that goes around the motor

Is there any 'delete' that you can do without the plastic housing that the motor/actuator goes into? I have the motor, but none of the plastic/stuff that goes with it.

Here is what I currently have, but it is throwing the check engine light on:

I wonder if there is any way to disable the checks in the ECU, using AlfaOBD or anything else?
Or maybe some way of tricking the ecu into thinking it is there..
Or maybe the only option is to find one in a junk yard to get the plastic housing from?

Is there any harm in driving it with the check engine light on while I figure something out for it?

I got a kit from CFT to delete mine. Just never deleted it. I've never had any overheat issues towing, yet. Also I'm in Maine and even with winter front, it takes a while to heat up. The AGS are supposed to add a tiny bit of fuel economy. The CFT kit might be what you need.

I have seen the kits/screws, and they all seem to rely on having the plastic surrounding that the actuator snaps into and the gear/arm that goes into the motor.

Unfortunately I do not have any of that, most of the 'broken plastic' bits were removed and are gone.

Everything is put back together now, but the ~ $400 (at the time) grill shutters were omitted when rebuilt.
