They both wider (protrude from the body more) and have more surface area. They deploy from landscape with blindspot mirror on the far outside to portrait with blindspot mirror at the bottom. Then they become really noticeable!!! I originally thought about changing mine out, but now that I've got used to them, I think they are great. I would like the ability to power fold, but maybe the 2015's will have them. I don't think this has been confirmed yet, but the rumor still persists.

(BTW, when you deploy them, you will have to adjust the blindspot mirror manually. This portion of the mirror is not power-adjust, only the main mirror.)

 

Do you have any pictures of them deployed and not deployed? Do they power deploy?

 

I have not used them deployed. They are not power deploy, either. You can flip them out from the seat, but it's a stretch. Sorry, no pics.

Thought I could live without them. Now that I have them I say super nice when trailering almost makes me want to leave them up even when without a trailer.

Most importantly...............will they fit the 2014 model without modifications and is it a DYI project ? I really, really would like power folding towing mirrors.

My truck has them. Perhaps you can enlarge the fotos I have. I can take some others tomorrow if you can describe what you want. Must be folded going through the carwash and they make a bit of wind noise above about 75 mph but Ilike them. Very effective with a pontoon boat in tow. They can be folded back manually against the side windows or forward parallel to the side of the truck. I fold them back when going through carwash.

 

i asked the parts guy at a dodge dealer, he told me the mirrors will bolt on no problems, but none of the power functions will work (turn signal, power folder etc..). i do not know if its true or not. don't feel like spending $600 for the mirrors to test it.

The mirror side pics aren't too god. The blind spot mirror, which is manually adjusted is on the bottom when twisted up into tow position and on the outside when down inthe normal position.

That is perfect, thanks!! Those are really nice mirrors, I can live without the power folding option for all of the other advantages of those mirrors.

 

they dont fold forward

 

Mine do fold forward but its easier to let the machine wash the bugs off the front of the mirror and then wash the glass when I get home with a paper towel and some window cleaner. Also when hinged forward they protrude forward of the plane of the windshield and they could be caught by the machine and damaged.

btw, the white dog really likes the back seat with it up and the flat platform down. She hardly misses the old minivan!

I was quoted just about $ 1000 for both mirrors from dealer , this does not include install , they said that the power will hook up but not the lights on new mirrors , , I think I will buy a set of those $ 50 to $ 75 extendable mirrors that just slide over preexisting mirror and just but them on if I have a long trailer hooked up " over 25 foot "

 

Just to confirm, the dealer told you $1000 to add the trailer/tow mirrors and remove/replace your other mirrors?

I just heard from my dealer that it is too late for me to change my order, I am getting the trailer mirrors and I realize that I REALLY want the regular mirrors with the power folding option. So I am going to be asking my dealer for the cost of going the other way - if possible.

After reading this thread again I called my dealer to see if he could change my order to delete the Trailer Tow package on my Ooutdoorsman. Still waiting to hear back. I think with my tight parking spaces and no real plan to tow (selected the package just in case) I would be better off with the power mirrors included in the Luxury Group.

My question is this: If successful at deleting the trail tow group I will lose the electronic trailer brake controller. Is that a big deal? Something that can be added later?

A number of folks, me included, had the dealer install the brake controller. No big deal. Ran <$250.

 

In the US, the brake controller is available as an option by itself (my truck has this). You can also add the OEM brake controller after the fact. They are often sold on Ebay.

 

My truck has the brake controller and hitch, with no towing mirrors also.
