Looking for a quality LED tailgate light bar. Want aux brake light, turn signals, and aux backup light built into the under-tailgate bar. Is this option from ProTuningLabs decent? Better options? Want something with quality and bright.

Not stupid at all. Valid question. I had the combo plug on my F150 and also on this Ram. I can get both plugs, the 4pin and the 7pin on my boat trailer both connected at the same time.Slight modification with a dremel tool on the Ram 4 pin lid will allow both connectors to work, where I didn't have to modify my F150 plug.

If your doesn't fit, then you could go into the back side of the trailering plug and attach there. You do have options if thought out. Most of the tailgate plugs I've seen do come with a 4 pin plug, but can be modified to work as you see fit.

I never thought of that as a modifications....I like it. I have something similar on my motorcycle but the LED's go on sequentially back and forth from side to side all the time and when you hit the brake it flashes 5 times rapidly and then goes to full brightness. Supposedly over 50% of motorcycle accidents are rear enders and this helps people to see you...but motorcycles have pretty small lights. I like the look on the tailgate.

Any issues with the backup camera picture? Just installed mine and now the camera has horizontal lines it in. Doesn’t seem to change with the lights being on or off or turn signals on...maybe it is just a bad connection on the tailgate harness. Love the light bar though!

I want a LED tailgate light bar ...
But i have a dilema ..

On our 09 rams, the majority of the LED tailgate light bars require plugging into the trailer hitch adaptor.

As we all know, the trailer hitch adaptor is mounted directly into the rear bumper from factory.
It would look silly running wires from out the front of the trailer hitch adaptor, then back under the tailgate just to power the light bar.

Has anyone wired up a tailgate light bar EASILY and cleanly ??

i saw this one .. which seems brightest, and has all lights, turn, brake, running, and bright reverse which is what i really like !

FIRE AND ICE ..

also i really like the mud flap light bars .. would that be to much ???

hints .. suggestions .. ideas ? thanks!

Putco 60" blade is what I have. Uses over 200 LEDs. Very bright very well made. Doesn't look cheap at all like most light bars that have gaps between the LEDs. I opted for the optional harness adapter that plugs into the 7 pin and 4 pin from inside the rear bumper then to the led bar. Looks very clean and OEM. No wires sticking out. Nothing in the way of you needing to use your connectors for trailers

Did this today , removed the plastic trim around the hole for the tool to lower spare ,
had to stick the strip '' under '' the plastic trim that brings juice to the electric tailgate release
and '' over '' the spare tire tool hole , no way I was going to install in a slalom patern , so
removing the lowest plastic part was best option , still have room to stick the rod in there ...

used the harness that others have suggested , made the job easy , soldering only one wire .
..
I modded the harness during the winter to add the reverse wire (( so there was no removing one of the tail lights
to get reverse juice as seen in many you tube videos ,
much easier do splice the harness sitting down at a table , and tape it all nice ,than messing with the truck' wires ))
''' reverse wire is the one in the center of socket '''

I used the led kit in post # 17 by pqw3413 .
and Curt harness in link here : CURT Manufacturing 55384 Replacement Vehicle-Side Custom USCAR 4-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness, Trailer Accessories - Amazon Canada

pulled out trailer brake socket to clip the harness properly , easy finger removal , 2 clips to squeeze and pull out .
Rubbing Alcool to prep surface .
table with rags to receive the tailgate during work .
