Thanks for the info Crash.
So if I put the fan back on, plug it in, and put positive lead on the PWM wire, with the negative lead grounded, start the engine and turn on the A/C, I should at least see something coming across the white wire? Maybe 5ish or so volts, then I know for sure its trying to activate the fan, and the fan motor is definitely dead at that point.......on the right track?

Any suggestions or recommendations on where to look for replacement parts for ED's?

According to alldata the fan uses a relay to control high and low speeds. The small white wire is your speed signal wire so simply putting power and ground should make the fan run if I reading diagram correctly. The part number for the fan assembly is 68217820AB.

For a High/Low speeds, you would need more than one wire unless it's a multi voltage output to "select" what speed your running. (1V = On, 2V = slow, 3V = faster, etc).
Now I'm getting curious, may have to pull some strings and look it up via Chrysler TechSupport :-O

Great info brokedown! I feel like I’m about ready to go secret ninja covert sneak attack at Chrysler support!

Before I do that, assuming your statement is correct, then I def have a dead fan motor!

Fan speed does vary based on engine temp, and if I recall correctly, it changes speed in 3 steps.

Onit, what thermostat do you speak of?

I have verified that the cooling fan uses a PWM signal for speed control.
The Engine Cooling Fan is operated by a Cooling Fan Module. The Cooling Fan Module receives a Pulse-Width
Modulated (PWM) signal directly from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through a dedicated circuit. This signal varies
depending on temperature and other engine inputs to the PCM.
From what I was reading, it may even cause a CEL P0692(Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit High), P0691(Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit Low), or P0480 (Cooling Fan 1 Circuit)

Bounty..... was just inquiring if anyone has changed out their stat.....kind of off subject but thought I would ask

Crash..... thank you yet again for the wealth of info. No codes thrown..... direct powered test failed. Judging by the steps I’m supposed to replace the fan motor unless I’m misreading.

Got my new Rad fan in yesterday and had a chance to test things out. Yanked the shroud/fan out of the box and plugged it in temporarily flipped upside down. Cranked the engine and hit the A/C. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I saw this:

So pumped that I had to light up the "Saloon" light and pour myself a "garage bourbon" to cheers to the ram1500diesel.com forums!

Special thank you to Crash68 for the diagnostics info provided! To Turkeybird56 for the link to the replacement part (cheapest I could find out there even after searching some more)! To bounty and brokendown for your suggestions and help. You all are awesome! Thank you so much for saving me wasted time, headache, and hassle dealing with my local dealership!

;)

Yetti,
Thanks for the suggestion. Took your advise and yanked the fuse. Bypassed it, but no fan still. Took it a step further and stuck a meter on the grey round connector that connects the fan motor to the battery. With ignition off I have 12v, and 14v with engine running. Seems like I'm getting power to the connector. Put the fuse back in place at the terminal and still getting the same power. I'm starting to think my fan motor really has gone bad.

Can anyone else chime in with anything further I can test with a meter? Can anyone tell me what kicks the fan motor on? I've also gone through my entire fuse bank and pulled each fuse one by one to verify all are good.

Additionally, A/C doesn't blow cold when sitting at a stop, but when under way it works just fine. Temps are fine unless towing a heavy load or sitting too long in traffic. Don't mind ordering up a new fan motor, just wondering if anyone else know of anything I can test further to verify the motor is definitely toast. TIA
I have 2017 1500 slt 3.6l v6 and having this exact problem. Only the fan never gets all the way up to speed and threw p0480 or somwthing lile that saying power reading from fan is low. Not a damn relay for fan in fuse box either but has them for air suspemsion i dont have. Ivw checked and changed split radiator with all aluminum one and changed to colder thermostat. The temps are still 225 ish then it will come down to 185 for a short while then right back up. A/c also doesnt seem to affect it either.
