Last night I successfully programmed another ECU to my truck. This one is a 2014 so I no longer got the code for the def quality sensor, but I did get a code for lost communication with LIN ECU 1. The only LIN connection I see on the ECU is for the glow plug controller...and it works fine with the 2 other ECUs. WTF?! That one is being returned, back on the hunt for a 2014 ECU! (can anyone confirm if a 2015 has the def quality sensor or not?)

I think 2015 does not, both ECUs I have @the moment read as 2015. The second one I picked up from a 2015 tradesman, installing in a 2014.

So if one was to get a used ECM from a different truck, it could be made to work simply using Aplha OBD?? What about all that re'learn I read in one of the early posts from AllData? Will the new ECM have the old learned values? Will it adapt to my engine, or do certain things need to be relearned, like Throttle position?

Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owner here, I successfully programmed an ECU from a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland to use in my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude using the info found here with no issues. Just reprogrammed the vin and injector codes, cycled power, reset oil life indicator, forced a regen, and I was good to go!

I have driven roughly 50 miles since the install with no issues at all. Thanks for the help everybody!

2015 Ram 1500 owner here, programmed an ECU from another 2015 Ram 1500 with Alfa, it was pretty straight forward. The current and original VIN were both updated when I changed to my VIN, haven't seen anyone else post about that. Using Alfa 2.1.7.7
I do have a Low Oil lamp with the updated ECU installed, oil pressure is measuring 9psi at idle. Switched back to original ECU and it reads 34 psi at idle. Couldn't find a scaling ratio or setting in Alfa for oil pressure. Recommendations? Thanks

The stock ECU programming does not read actual oil pressure, it is a calculated number based on other data that the ECU has. There was a recall when they changed the recommended oil viscosity to change the calculations, that might have something to do with it.

that Tsb came out in 2016 after viscosity change , and only applied to 2016 ,
not for 2015 ,
*** maybe tnfishman got a ECM with GDE tune in it , with option for the GDE oil pressure gauge,
that parameter would get readings from stock sensors and throw a code ,
P.S. welcome to the site tnfishman , try setting the cruise control at +/- 15 Mph ,
(( if it grabs , that module is tuned )) , if it only grabs around 25 Mph then it is stock tune .

GDE tune with oil pressure kit option used with stock oil pressure sensor will give single digit oil pressure readings and throw a CEL.

Thanks Kazimoda.
I hadn't thought of that, will try tomorrow. However it's not throwing a CEL, was afraid I might hurt something didn't drive it and went back to original.
Anyone else have Alfa change original and current VIN to what you input?

Just guessing here...but if tnfishman got both VIN's to change AND it is a GDE tuned ECM, maybe the fact that it has already had ECM changes (GDE tune) so it allowed both VIN's to get written by AlphaOBD?

Might be on to something there. I'll swap them back tonight and send update. If it is a GDE tune is there any way to know if it has the offroad option?

I would think that the first indication would be a CEL/MIL regarding the DPF/DEF since your DPF/DEF system are both intact. But I could be wrong on that. If I am, then for sure the DPF will clog pretty soon.

Well, Kazimoda wins the prize. It's a GDE tune, since mass soot is not changing and Urea dosing valve is not firing I'm assuming it's an offroad tune. Oil pressure light goes off while driving, comes on when stopped.
Anybody want a GDE offroad tuned ECU?
Thanks for all the help guys
