Has any one replaced the stock rear shocks on a 1500 with the factory air suspension?
I have had wheel hop since the day I picked it up and now 104K miles later and still the same wheel hop. I just let er buck and bounce, I just figured that was part of the Longhorn package.I've replaced the suspension on several Jeeps so one of the first things I looked at when I got my '14 Ram was the factory air suspension - and I was bummed. Unless I'm not looking at things correctly the reality is the "springs and shocks" are actually one unit. There is no shock separate from the 'spring' since the spring is actually the air lift bag - and the shock is integral to the system.
I'm at 62,000 miles and there is some wheel hop that a good or new shock would prevent - I'd like to add a good set of Bilsteins but I'm pretty sure those of us with factory air suspension will have to replace the air suspension units and are subject to Mopar's pricing

Which shocks are you referring too?Hey so will this shocks work with a stock air suspension truck or just for lifted trucks. Reason for my question is because the description on Amazon is talking about 1 Inc lift
Have wondered same...161k and OEM...long time Bilstein 5100 user on my X. My dad rode in it at 158k and did not notice any difference to hi 2015 ED w/ 55k.Has anyone replaced these shocks yet? How would we know when they need to be replaced?
are those shock long enough to reach air ride 2? or low enough to go to 1I replaced my factory rear shocks (air suspension) with Bilstein 5100 (24-187374) and the improvement was significant. i replaced them because one of my shocks was leaking and I felt my ride was a little bouncy (not enough dampening) and the Bilstein 5100 are well worth the small amount of money they cost. If you're doing this, quick tip, remove your fender liners and the job is super easy.
insulate the air compressor wellI am looking at replacing my shocks on the truck we just got. The 2016 1500 with air suspension isn't that great for Canadian winters from what I hear. Trying to decide if I want to keep the air and just change the rear shocks. This post was interesting because I didn't realize that the front bags were integrated with the shock.
Looking forward to more responses, I love doing research prior to making a decision.
